Not Just Building Boats — Building Boating

At Tristram Marine, we’ve always believed that building exceptional boats goes far beyond the finished product sitting on the trailer.

Boating is about family weekends away. Early mornings chasing fish. Exploring new coastlines. Time disconnected from screens and reconnected with the people around you. It’s a lifestyle that means something to many Kiwi families — including our own.

That’s why we’re proud members of NZ Marine — the national organisation representing New Zealand’s marine industry.

For Tristram Marine, our involvement with NZ Marine is far more than simply holding a membership.

Why Industry Involvement Matters

Behind the scenes, organisations like NZ Marine help advocate for the future of recreational boating in New Zealand — supporting safer boating initiatives, marine education, industry training, responsible waterway use, and stronger environmental awareness around the places we all enjoy spending time on the water.

For boat owners, that matters.

A healthy marine industry helps support better boating infrastructure, stronger safety standards, cleaner waterways, improved access to boating and fishing opportunities, and continued investment into the future of recreational boating in New Zealand.

It also helps ensure New Zealand continues producing world-class marine products, skilled tradespeople, and innovative boating technology — all of which ultimately benefits boat owners and the wider boating community.

Our membership also keeps Tristram Marine closely connected to evolving technologies, manufacturing standards, training pathways, and industry best practice. Just as importantly, it creates opportunities to collaborate with other respected marine businesses across the country — helping strengthen the boating experience for everyone.

Helping Shape The Future Of Kiwi Boating

As NZ Marine continues evolving and growing its role within the industry, the recent appointment of Callum Gillespie as Executive Director marks an exciting step forward for the organisation.

Callum brings extensive leadership experience from across the marine and boating sectors, including his previous role as CEO of Coastguard New Zealand. His appointment reflects a strong focus on the future of boating, marine participation, industry advancement, and continued support for New Zealand’s boating community.

Tristram Marine is also proud to have representation within NZ Marine’s governance structure, with Business Development Manager and in-house Chartered Accountant Tristram Fink serving on NZ Marine’s Board of Management.

This governance role allows Tristram Marine to contribute to the strategic direction and continued advancement of New Zealand’s marine industry — helping support long-term initiatives around innovation, training, marine manufacturing, boating participation, and safe boating practices.

It also ensures we remain closely connected to the wider direction of the sector, allowing us to continue evolving alongside both industry advancements and the expectations of modern boat owners.

At Tristram Marine, we believe great marine companies should contribute positively to the wider boating community — not simply build boats.

Because protecting and strengthening the future of boating in New Zealand ultimately benefits every person who enjoys time on the water.
