Meet Mike, Production Manager

Mike’s been part of the Tristram family for over 20 years, and he’s now one of the key people driving our production team forward. He first joined us back in 2003 as an apprentice, learning the craft and building his skills from the ground up. Over the years, Mike steadily worked his way through NZ Marine’s apprenticeship and training programmes, picking up multiple qualifications along the way and developing into the respected leader he is today.

As Production Manager, Mike oversees the entire manufacturing process here at Tristram. He’s deeply involved in making sure every boat that leaves our site meets the high standards we’re known for. Beyond that, Mike plays a big part in mentoring our team—especially the next generation of apprentices coming through. He’s someone who takes the time to share what he’s learned, supporting others both on the job and after hours.

A few years ago, Mike received the inaugural NZ Marine Dale Carnegie Scholarship—an acknowledgement of the leadership he’s developed over time. That gave him the opportunity to take part in world-class personal and professional development training, which he’s brought back into the business to benefit the whole team.

Mike is committed to maintaining high standards and creating a culture of care and quality. He helps make sure every team member has the tools, knowledge, and support they need to do their best work and to continuously grow and improve.

Mike’s wife, Melina Langley, is also an integral part of our team. As our Boat Parts Manager, she brings incredible focus, expertise, and care to making sure our owners are supported with parts, upgrades, and customisations. Between the two of them, Mike and Melina set a great example of teamwork and dedication that runs right through Tristram Marine.

You’ll often find Mike working closely with our new boat owners as well—especially during the handover process, where he helps them get familiar with their new boats and feel confident heading out on the water.

Mike’s journey at Tristram has been shaped by hard work, continuous learning, and a real passion for what we do. He’s played a big role in shaping who we are today—and he’s helping build the future of our business, one boat (and one boat builder) at a time.
